Life
Nadir Afonso Chaves was born in 1920.
He graduated in Architecture at the School of Fine Arts in Oporto.
In 1946, studied painting at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and obtained by Portinari a scholarship from the French government until 1948 and 1951 employee of the architect Le Corbusier and served some time in the studio Fernand Léger.
From 1952 to 1954, worked in Brazil with the architect Oscar Niemeyer.
That year, he returned to Paris, resuming contact with the artists in demand driven kinetic art, developing studies of painting called "Espacillimité."
At the forefront of world art exhibits in 1958 at the Salon des Nouvelles Réalités, the work "espacillimités" animated motion.
In 1965, Nadir Afonso leaves definitely the architecture, conscious of its social maladjustment, takes refuge in a little bit great isolation and accentuates the course of his life exclusively devoted to the creation of his work.
In January 2009, Clark was presented in the project designed by Siza Vieira from the Foundation Nadir Afonso, a project budgeted at € 8.5 million and should open to the public in 2011.
